Nina sunk into a crouch over the dead operator as a new voice came to her through the night air. She silently watched andappraised this new opponent as he walked towards her, slowly.
She smelled no gun on him...and no fear?
She waited.

"There you are," he said as he spotted her beside a body, "good work. We need to head out soon though, can't let this case get much colder than it already is."
He nodded over his shoulder at the other corpse, "Got a bit of info off of that one, I'll need to check him out too, as soon as you calm down of course."

Nina stood...he spoke of things she barely understood...
She shook her head...he didn't speak like Link...not Link...
She kept her gaze on this stranger and tried to remember where she had left her Operator...
Was he trying to trick her? Was he a target?
Target were afraid of her...
Link..."Link..." The first word she ever uttered when coming out of her dance...
She numbly dropped her knife, exhaustion hitting her, and depression as she remembered exactly where Link was. She shuffled past Miller and headed to the car, ignoring her wounds.

He frowned and lowered his hands as she passed. Satisfied that although somber she had come out of it he went to inspect the body, then the car. A few minutes later he headed back to his own vehicle.
"You alright?" he asked as he got in.

Nina was curled up in teh back seat, jacket draped over her. She new that she was going into post trance shock, she'd be okay after some rest..."I'm fine" she whispered.
"Just get us to the next site...and find me something with a great deal of protein as well as sugar."

"There's an advanced first aid kit back there somewhere." he said while driving out of the alley, "I'll see about the food." He drove through the streets scanning the signs and building along the way and settled for pulling into a dairy queen. "What do you want?"

Nina was fast asleep, one hand curled under her cheek, the other lightly clutching the jacket ot her. Asleep, she looked far younger than when awake, no more than twenty at the most...
She was obviously dreamibng, and it wasn't pleasant. She twitched slightly, remembering...like she always did.

He watched her stir and got out of the car, locking the doors and going in for food. It would be best to have something to offer her when he woke her up Miller reasoned and headed inside. He came out a few minutes, a paper bag clenched in his teeth as he held two blizzards in his hands.
He got to the car and struggled with the door.

Nina stirred and cracked an eye open, head hurting like hell "Link...?" she shook her head adn jumped as a light thump sounded near her door.
She glanced up like a deer caught in headlights, staring up at Miller for a moment before opening the door for him. Slowly, sa she woke up and remembered, she seemed to age, not so much as physically, but experience and sadness seemed to fill her eyes.
She reached out for the bag and a Blizzard, still draped in eth coat "Thank you"

Relieved of the bag and other cup he got back into the car, setting his blizzard in the holder and starting the engine. "You ready for the next scene?" he asked, ready to get back to work.

She set the food between her knees and fished around for the first aid kit he had mentioned. Slowly she cleaned and bandaged her ribs while pondering his question. "The only reason you brougt me was to analyze the scenes...why wouldn't I be?"
She understood living for one purpose...why didn't he?

He thought about correcting or arguing with her about the reasons she was here but let it go. "Alright we'll be there in a few. Eat fast."
He worked on his frozen dessert while guiding the car along, glad that this time they weren't bieng followed. A while later and they were across the street from another apartment building.

Receiving no answer ot her question she tucked into her food, restoring lost energy. When they arrived, she was ready to go, once more as balanced as she got, face expressionless.
"Is there surveillance here as well?" she asked.
It was beginning to become a pain...but he had her out. And that was worth it.

"No, not right now anyway. They'll be around later." he shut off the car and waited, "This is the second sight, mainly college kids, lot of 'budding artists'. From most accounts they were invited here and came willingly, unknowingly."

She sighed, stepping out of the car "Let me guess, she invited a group just a tad too lareg for her to handle and one got out far enough to scream. Cops were called and she split, probabaly leaving a few pieces of art..."
She walked upstairs, past doors all trying to be "original" and all it did was make her feel tired...which wasn't right... Must not be recovered from the fight yet It never occured to her that it was her soul that was so tired.
It was always teh top apartment available. Best light...she swung the door open and walked in.
