Nayii nodded. "But.. all the volumes have been destroyed! I can't possibly do anything worthwhile without them! I didn't memorize..." Nayii's voice fell, along with her head. The magics were lost.

He gave a nod to Illiyeera and turned away, looking out at the landscape away from the blaze. "Then if there's nothing left we must move on, while the trail is fresh."

Illiyeera smiled softly at the girl. "You do'nt think you memorized. The house charm my sister gave you does that. It will be good to have someone a little more accomplished than me. i can light campfires and sense life. That is all. It is why I alone out of the house am a warrior..."
She was trying to keep her spirit up...and yeah, it wasn't working, but at least she wasn't tearing her hair out.

Pursing her lips, Nayii nodded, looking out toward the horizon, at the point where she believed the men had disappeared.

He turned his head and raised his voice, calling to the other who had lagged behind. "Nikron come! Let's get moving." Then he urged his horse forward, following the tracks of ripped up earth the attackers had left.

Nikron had lagged a little further back as the depression had set in...followed by a little further when they had discovered the single survivor...and between the two he had very soon stopped completely. Still, at the call he looked up from his distraction, shaking his head and cursing himself for doing so as he ran his horse forward to catch up. "Of course...let's go..."

Illiyeera wasn't sure if they were all just seeking death to lay alongside their families and friends, their very kind, or if they could actually find vengeance and move on.
Right now it didn't matter.
Her heart sang for death, and whose wasn't a concern.
And Nayii...a child...what right did they have to take her along? She could live...
Alone and confused.
No, the girl had earned her place here.
She checked her bow string and her sword, then allowed Nikron to pass her so that she could take up rear guard.

He rode with a straight focus, even more than when he had been heading for the village. For then his mind was full of thoughts, doubts, hopes and fears. But now he knew, all of that was gone, he knew what had happened and now rode forward with nothing but a single mind set. To catch up to the raiders and color his sword in their blood. To bath the ground in red spilled from them and listen to thier cries as they must have his peoples. If he died in this battle it wouldn't matter, nor would living. All he wanted, all he rode for now was death. Thiers and even his.

Brow furrowed, Nayii studied the lot she was travelling with, steadying her own grief with the emotion-controlling techniques she had been taught in her magic schooling. All were grim and set on revenge, but she knew they had no hope. There were too many, and they were far too few. Yet, what else was there to do?

Nikron wandered on after the other male, sighing softly as he hurried his horse onward a bit...there wasn't anything to say, nor anything to do, really, except follow a blind trail, probably to their deaths. And, slowly but surely, the shock and hurt he had felt by the destruction of his home was replaced with a soft, warm numbness to the goings on around him...
His mount's hooves ran along the ground, and that was all that mattered.

Night fell and darkened before he finally caught site of them. The small dotting of campfires flickering in the distance slowed and then halted him. He signaled the others to do the same then stood at a stand still watching the fires.

Illyeera, used to following orders quickly and quietly dismounted and crept to a point where she coudl see the fires as well.
Far too many fires.
"Won't be easy" she said at last. "Permission to scout closer...?"

He frowned to himself and nodded to Illyeera, "Be careful and come back quick."

Illiyeera nodded and slipped off into the wood, drifting among trees quickly and quietly.
There was an odd lack of life nearby, hardly an animal mind to touch...
That meant they'd run...and what couldn't run was in the stew pot.
The men in the camps, yes, plural, were racous and drunk on sucess in finally eliminating the freakish people. She wanted nothing more than to slip in and start slitting throats...but shehad to report back the size and position.
Then she'd be back.
She grinned ferally, more akin to awolf than a man, and slipped back.
