"Welcome to the world of the future!!!" Winchester exclaimed, gesturing grandly as he and the others stepped from the time machine.
"Um...Professor? I don't think we're in the future..." Ben said hesitantly as they all looked around.
"What are you talking about? Of course we are. Just look at the fantastic...dirt roads and the...amazing...horse...drawn...carriage?" He turned his head and followed the buggy that came clopping by. "Oh my..."
"See, I told you guys this would bite." Ben muttered shaking his head.

Sarah stepped out of the rather cramped machien and blew on her fingertips. They'd been shocked when she'd had to fix the wiring fo the professor "No, look, there's sky scrapers..."
She took in the surrounding and then winced "Wow, freaky, that used to be the public library..."

Michael shook his head as he stepped out, looking around. He pondered the surroundings for a moment...the circumstances...and finally nodded sagasciously. "There can be only one explanation...in the future, conservationists have obviously come up with very odd solutions."

"The future? But...this sucks." Ben grumbled then pointed at the Professor and the others. "You guys promised me flying cars!"
"It would appear the future isn't quite what any of us expected..." Winchester mused

"yeah, it's far less technically advanced than I had hoped for..." she was an electronics unt, that's why she'd come..."Perhaps there was a war or something"

"Maybe there was the war," Valerie offered, poking her head out. "Maybe it's just another circle. Maybe... I've been reading too much Márquez."

"This sucks! I want to go back." Ben complained and headed back for the machine.
"Oh please, this is a wonderous scientific breakthrough. Why we have proven countless theories correct, we have broached the time barrier, we have proven the fourth dimension we..."

"The war would have ended mankind, much less earth. So, a minor war" she pointed out.
"Or maybe aliens."

"...Less talk about wars and more doing something now." Michael grumbled. "Personally, I vote thus: Theories proven, barrier broken, let's go home."

"Why go home? We're here... shouldn't we, you know, look around or something. Talk to people?"

"What if their all sickly mutated people with one eye and eight arms? Or what if societies become nothing but cannibals? Or what if robots run the world and seek to exterminate the last of the human race?!" Ben shouted madly.

"And - with the exception of the mutants - you think these people (or robots) would still have carriages? Please..."

"They might."
"Enough, this is a learning experience after all and a scientific endevour. As such we will not leave until you have learned something and I have gathered data for the scientific community." Winchester exclaimed, hiked his pants up and began walking.
Ben scowled and followed. "I've learned the future sucks."

Sarah sighed and looked at the small, crispy bunch of wires and metal gearings in her hand.
No need to tell folk that a return trip wasn't an option right now...
It'd just make them whine more.
Besides, maybe she could find an old Radio Shack or something...
That thought in mind, she followed after, a smile on herface and a jaunt in herstep.

Crossing her arms, Valerie followed the rest. She wondered how she had been enmeshed with this plot to begin with. She was actually studying to enter medical school, and had really no idea what the repercussions of this act were. Who knew, though? Maybe her expertise would come in handy somewhere along the way. She had a penchant for languages that she knew would be useful if they needed to talk to anyone.
