a new world requires new gods... and thats just what has sprung up, along with new demi-gods... or should I say goddesses.
she scowled at them all in the food court. little did they know she was probably saving their lives. her name was Jennifer Tristadeca. everyone, only a handful of orphans that would admit to it, called her Jenny 13, and that worked for her. you see Jenny had a gift, or rather a curse. you see when she showed people affection, bad luck beset them. something as simple as a smile could cause a person to trip over nothing, or to slip down a flight of stairs. but with greater shows of affection more dire bad luck happened. one boy she kissed once was killed by a bolt that had rattled loose from an airplane passing over head.
she scowls though, not to protect them, but to protect herself from being hurt. in truth, though Jenny has no idea. she is a demi-goddess. her true name is Serendipity. her mother was a Goddess named Kismet, the goddess of the future. Jenny 13 was left to grow up among humans so that she would be a kind and gentle goddess, if she chose to become a full goddess.
..........
in another part of that same town, a god strode among humans. he was pale, and looked aorund seventeen. he had his hair back in a braid that reached his waist. it got him strange looks that he enjoyed. his clothes were like those of "skater" clique; baggy, but securely on his frame. this was Mutiny, God of rebellion. he watched a teen in a sweater vest follow a very attractive female around. the male was carrying several very large, very heavy bags. the girl was verbally abusing him horribly. Mutiny strode by the boy, and sat on the other bench beside them. the boy's face shifted to anger. he threw the bags down and said, "I've had enough Courtney. I'm done being your little slave." the boy whipped off the sweater vest and threw it on the bags and stormed down the street. the girl stood there gaping at what had just happened.
Mutiny laughed at her confusion.
